From 9:30 - 10:30 AM
We will focus on the technical side of the game. This will be based on the age, and skill level of each player and group. For younger players the emphasis will be more on dribbling and moves. They will learn to dribble with both feet, and with all parts of the foot (Inside/outside/sole). We believe the more quality touches a player gets, the more comfortable they will be with the ball! We will also incorporate different variations of 1v1’s, 2v1’s and 3v2’s, to help the players learn how to attack defenders and be confident in 1v1 situations. We want players to be creative, play-makers on the field, and some of the best and most creative players in the world (Neymar, Messi, Mbappe) learned to master 1v1 interactions from a very young age!
From 10:30 - 11:30 AM
We will transition focus to shooting and finishing, which includes crossing and finishing, as well as different variations of finishes including finesse, power or curl shots. We will also include work on full and half-volleys and the technique involved in executing a powerful shot and control when the ball is in the air. We will continue to include 1v1's and 2v2's on the big goal, as we feel at a young age 1v1 and 2v2's are essential for players' development. We will help players with their form while shooting as well, because with proper form players can get more power and accuracy on their shots. We will ensure there is a lot of repetition, and we hope to have each player take at least 50 shots per day!
From 11:30 - 12:30 PM
Games, games, games!
We will start with smaller sided games, focusing on quick passes, and lots of touches and movement off of the ball. Creativity will be emphasized, as well as passion and fun. From there it will move to larger scale games, where players can incorporate more speed, spacing, and long distance shooting. Growing up watching the 1994 Brasil team, with players like, Romario, Bebeto, Dunga, spending lots of time in Brasil, as well as being half Brasilian myself, I have learned the importance of not being afraid to take players on 1v1, as well as trying new skills. Players should want the ball at their feet, and it will be a goal of ours, to develop players who are confident on the ball, and who are not afraid to make mistakes!
Players will also have frequent water breaks (more on hotter days) and one 10 minute snack/nourishment break.
